• Walker Buehler pitched the ninth, recording his first MLB save, regular season or postseason. His only other professional save was Aug. 13, 2017, for Triple-A Oklahoma City. https://iisunderground.com/ Alex Verdugo and Max Muncy were in his lineup that day. He’d go on to make his MLB debut on Sept. 7. He had one save in college at Vanderbilt, as a freshman on May 11, 2013.
The Dodgers had lost to the Yankees in 1977 and 1978, and they lost the first two games of this series at Yankee Stadium. To get back in it, the Dodgers won three straight one-run games at home, and after finishing the series in New York, three Dodgers — Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager — shared the MVP.
They used a bullpen game to blow out the Padres with their season on the line while on the road in Game 4 of the NLDS then came back to Dodger Stadium and shut them out to advance into the next round. They used an overwhelming offensive attack to dispatch the surging New York Mets, accumulating an NLCS-record 46 runs. And then they overwhelmed the high-powered Yankees.
• Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit the fifth set of back-to-back homers in Yankees World Series history in the first inning of Game 5. They joined 1977 Game 5 Thurman Munson and Reggie Jackson, 1964 Game 6 Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle, 1932 Game 3 Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and 1928 Game 4 Ruth and Gehrig. The Yankees are the first team in World Series history to hit multiple home runs in the first inning of a game when facing elimination. With the Dodgers in Game 2, this was the first time there were multiple sets of back-to-back home runs in a single World Series.
When it rains, which it does a fair bit – hence the Rain World title – you’ll be left to find shelter, as you look to hibernate. Yet as you progress through this adventure you will learn to grab objects, action small jumps, and throw projectiles at things. You’ll also get to repel creatures that are attacking you. If you do die, and you will, you lose a karma score that stops you from entering certain areas, but keep with Rain World and it very soon immerses you, particularly as you understand the controls and pace. In fact, it becomes pretty relaxing. At least as relaxing as a game in which you face certain death, pretty much every minute. There is a ton to take in here though, loads of exploring and the chance to take in a variety of areas, all as you look to spend hours in this rainy world.
Rain World provided those assumptions. At least initially. But this is a game that deserves the time, begging for you to soldier on through the early motions as you get to experience an amazing adventure that digs into you, with hooks.
Rain World does have a danger of being dismissed out of hand, especially in the early moments. It doesn’t hold your hand, you fast get lost and the difficulty is trying. But exploring this world and experiencing the adventure of your beloved slugcat is, ultimately, rather amazing.
At times Rain World is brutal. It is also difficult and frustrating, but it will keep pulling you back in to try again. You will die loads in this adventure, but like those 16-bit games it has been inspired by, there is always a way to learn and get better.
You are a slugcat. The world around you is full of danger, and you must face it – alone. Separated from your family in a devastating flood, you will need to find food and shelter between terrifying torrential downpours which threaten to drown all life. Climb through the ruins of an ancient civilization, evade the jaws of vicious predators, and discover new lands teeming with strange creatures and buried mysteries. Find your family before something makes a meal of you! Inspired by the simplicity and aesthetics of 16-bit classics, this survival platformer requires clever decision-making, both to catch your own prey and to avoid the jaws of hungry predators. Each ravenous foe in your path will be cunning, vicious and always on the hunt – eager to sink their teeth into you, or even each other. As a small, soft slugcat you must rely on stealth and wit rather than force: learn the ecosystem and turn their strengths to your advantage. Maybe then you can survive… Rain World!

“I think never having thrown here, I’m not sure if that will kind of continue,” Buehler told reporters at Yankee Stadium during Sunday’s workout day. “I said it before that game, I like pitching in the cold. So hope it gets down there a little bit tomorrow.”
“I’ve definitely got to step up, and I’ve got to do my job,” Judge said. “Guys around me are doing their jobs, getting on base, and I’m failing at backing them up. We’ve got to turn it around in Game 3.”
After the 2014 season Buehler played for Team USA and the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). He posted a 0.63 earned run average with 24 strikeouts over 28+2⁄3 innings pitched for the Red Sox. In the 2014 CCBL playoffs, he did not allow a run in 15+1⁄3 innings, won both of his starts, and was a co-winner of MVP honors, leading the Red Sox to the league championship.

“Stepping up to the plate there, ninth inning, that’s what everybody dreams about,” Gonzalez said. “In a key situation to drive in the winning run in the World Series against one of the best relievers in all of baseball and to be honest with you, that’s the first time I choked up all year.”
The Arizona Diamondbacks began play in 1998, along with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, as the youngest expansion team in Major League Baseball (MLB). After a mediocre debut season, the Diamondbacks finished the following year first in the National League (NL) West with a 100–62 record, but lost to the New York Mets in the National League Division series. With several All-Star players like Randy Johnson and Matt Williams, the Diamondbacks had high expectations for the 2000 season, but finished third in the NL West with an 85–77 record. During the offseason, team manager Buck Showalter was fired, and replaced by sportscaster Bob Brenly. The Diamondbacks acquired several notable free agent players during the offseason, including Miguel Batista, Mark Grace, and Reggie Sanders. Most of the Diamondbacks players were above the age of 30, and had already played on a number of teams prior to the 2001 season. In fact, the Diamondbacks starting lineup for the World Series did not include a player under the age of 31, making them the oldest team by player age in World Series history. With several players nearing the age of retirement, Luis Gonzalez noted that the overall team mentality was “there’s too many good guys in here to let this opportunity slip away”.
The Series began later than usual as a result of a delay in the regular season after the September 11 attacks and was the first to extend into November. The Diamondbacks won the first two games at home, limiting the Yankees to just one run. The Yankees responded with a close win in Game 3, at which U.S. President George W. Bush threw out the ceremonial first pitch. In Games 4 and 5, the Yankees won in comeback fashion, hitting game-tying home runs off Diamondbacks closer Byung-hyun Kim with one out remaining in consecutive games, before winning in extra innings. The Diamondbacks won Game 6 in a blowout, forcing a decisive Game 7. In the final game, the Yankees led in the ninth inning before the Diamondbacks staged a comeback against closer Mariano Rivera, capped off by a walk-off, bases-loaded bloop single by Luis Gonzalez to clinch Arizona’s championship victory. This was the third World Series to end in a bases-loaded, walk-off hit, following 1991 and 1997, and to this date, the last Series to end on a walk-off of any kind. This series held the record for the latest date that a Series ended (November 4), until that record was tied during the 2009 World Series and broken during the 2022 World Series.
After going down two games to none against the Oakland A’s in the best-of-five American League Division Series, the Yankees won three in a row to take the series. Their next challenge was the Seattle Mariners, who had tied a major-league record with 116 wins during the regular season.2 The Yankees beat the Mariners in five games for their 38th AL crown.
Game 5 saw the Yankees return to Mike Mussina for the start while the Diamondbacks sent Miguel Batista, who had not pitched in twelve days, to the mound. Batista pitched a strong 7+2⁄3 scoreless innings, striking out six, and reliever Greg Swindell got the last out of the eighth inning. Mussina bounced back from his poor Game 1 start, recording ten strikeouts, but allowed solo home runs in the fifth inning to Steve Finley and Rod Barajas.
